About this internship

## Software Engineer

### About the role

StudentLife OS is looking for a motivated **Software Engineer** to join our growing team and help build the next generation of technology for students, schools, and organizations.

You’ll work directly on our AI-powered platform, contributing to real product features used by students and educational organizations. This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, solve challenging technical problems, and help shape the direction of the product.

### What you’ll do

  • Build, improve, and maintain features across the StudentLife OS platform.
  • Develop scalable, secure, and reliable web applications.
  • Work with our existing **Next.js, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure**.
  • Integrate APIs, AI services, authentication, payments, and other third-party services.
  • Design and optimize database queries and backend systems.
  • Identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with the founder and other team members to turn product ideas into working features.
  • Help improve the platform's architecture, developer experience, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Take ownership of projects from planning through implementation and release.

### What we’re looking for

  • Strong programming and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience building web applications or software projects.
  • Experience with **JavaScript/TypeScript and React/Next.js** is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with **REST APIs, databases, Git, and modern software development practices**.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and secure code.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the team.
  • A builder mindset — you see a problem and think about how to solve it.

### Nice to have

  • Experience with **PostgreSQL, Prisma, Supabase, AWS, Vercel, or Cloudflare**.
  • Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization systems.
  • Experience with Stripe or other payment systems.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and application performance optimization.
  • Previous startup, open-source, or entrepreneurial experience.

### What you’ll gain

  • Real-world experience building and scaling a technology startup.
  • Direct exposure to product development, engineering decisions, and startup operations.
  • The opportunity to ship software that directly impacts students.
  • Mentorship and collaboration with an entrepreneurial team.
  • Significant ownership and responsibility over engineering projects.
  • A chance to help shape the technical foundation of a growing company.

### Who this role is for

We’re looking for someone who is **curious, proactive, technically capable, and excited to build**. You don’t need to know everything, we value people who can learn quickly, take initiative, and turn ideas into reliable software.

If you want to build technology that makes a meaningful difference in students’ lives while gaining hands-on experience at an early-stage company, we’d love to hear from you.
