For schools and departments

A student roster you can actually trust.

Your roster should show real, enrolled students, not a wall of unconfirmed claims. On StudentLife OS it does. You see only verified students, you declare your email format once to confirm a whole campus, and you weigh in only on the few cases our team escalates. The hard calls and the enforcement stay with us.

Your Students tab

Three views, one honest roster.

The roster is organized so the trustworthy view is the default, the unconfirmed view is clearly separate, and the only thing asking for your attention is a question we actually sent you.

All students

Verified students only

Your main roster shows only the students our team has verified. No noise, no unconfirmed claims, just the students you can actually count on.

Pending

Still being confirmed

A read-only view of students who claim your school but are not yet verified. You can see them, but they stay out of your trusted roster until they clear verification.

Needs review

Only what we escalate

A student lands here only when our trust and safety team explicitly asks you to confirm them. You answer yes or no; we take it from there. Nothing else clutters this queue.

Verify a whole campus by declaring one thing.

After your school is approved, you declare the email format your students use, for example an address ending in students.school.edu. From then on, every student whose address matches stays verified automatically. It is the second layer of our verification, the one that makes a roster trustworthy at scale rather than one student at a time.

Locked after you submit it

Once you submit your email format it is locked, so it cannot be quietly changed by anyone. If a typo slips through, a quick message to our team corrects it. That is what makes the declaration something everyone can rely on.

Matching students stay verified automatically
A verified student whose address does not match is sent back to pending for a closer look
For everyone without a school email, our team reviews one enrollment document by hand
The result is a roster a school, an employer, and a student can all trust

A clear division of labor

You answer the question. We handle the rest.

Verification works best when each side does what only it can. You know your students; we run the review and own the enforcement, so a single campus never carries that weight or that liability.

You confirm

When we ask, you tell us whether a student is genuinely one of yours. That local knowledge is something only you have.

We decide

Verifying, requesting more documents, suspending, or restoring an account stays with our trust and safety team. A school never blocks an account itself.

Documents stay with us

A student’s uploaded enrollment documents are reviewed only by our team and are never shown to your school.

Honest over time, not just on day one.

Students transfer and graduate. Your roster keeps up automatically, so the numbers you see this year still mean something next year.

Past students

When a student transfers away, they move to a past-students view with an approximate tenure, so your active roster stays current.

Graduates

Students are carried from current to recent graduate automatically, so your alumni picture stays accurate without manual cleanup.

Roster analytics

Understand your verified student population, its makeup, and its outcomes, with numbers that reconcile across every screen.

Questions schools ask.

Do we need a .edu email to sign up as a school?+

No. A school signs up with its institution details and the email of an authorized representative, which does not have to be a .edu address. Every school application is reviewed by a real member of our team before it is approved; schools are never approved automatically. After approval, you declare the email format your students use, which powers verification for your campus.

What does our main roster show?+

Under All students, your roster shows only the students our team has verified as real, enrolled students. Students who claim your school but are not yet verified appear in a separate, read-only Pending tab, so your trusted roster is never diluted by unconfirmed claims.

What is the Needs review tab?+

It contains only the students our trust and safety team explicitly asked you to confirm, for example a verified student whose email address does not match your declared format. You answer whether the student is genuinely enrolled with you, and our team makes the final call. Nothing else appears here.

Can we block or remove a student ourselves?+

No, and that is by design. A school answers the confirmation question, but verifying, requesting more documents, suspending, or removing an account stays with our trust and safety team. This keeps enforcement consistent and keeps that responsibility and liability off any single campus.

What email format can we declare for our students?+

You declare a domain your institution controls, for example school.edu or students.school.edu. You cannot declare a personal email provider such as Gmail or Yahoo, because those addresses do not belong to the institution and cannot identify your students.

Can we change our email format after submitting it?+

The declaration is locked once you submit it, so it cannot be quietly changed by anyone. If you made a typo or your domain changes, contact support@studentlifeos.com from your school account and our team will update it for you.

Do we ever see a student’s uploaded verification documents?+

No. Enrollment documents a student uploads are reviewed only by our trust and safety team and are never shown to schools, organizations, or other students. You see the outcome, a verified or pending status, not the underlying document.

How are past students and graduates handled?+

When a student transfers away they move to a past-students view with an approximate tenure, so your active roster stays current. Students are carried from current to recent graduate automatically as their graduation year passes, so your alumni picture stays accurate without manual cleanup, and the numbers reconcile across the dashboard, the roster, and analytics.
